A Farm Story

Jan and Addy

Susar Farm has been having shows since 1977 and during that time we have had many great horses and riders show with us.  Generally someone will show for a few years, dominate the winners circle, and then move on.  During the last ten years, we have had a team showing that consistently wins against all comers, under all judges and under all conditions.  Jan Cooper and her wonder horse Satron (Addie to his many friends) have won year end high point eight years in a row only relinquishing the title the year Addie had colic surgery and was unable to show.  Addie is, in 2006, 22 years old and still going strong.

We at Susar decided that Jan needed a new horse and of course it couldn't be just any horse but it needed to be a Straight Egyptian Asil horse so that Jan could use her many training skills to create another great winner.  We were able to convince Homer Penniman and Tina of Treff Haven Arabians  in Arkansas to donate a Straight Egyptian, Non-Nazeer gelding for Jan to win as our High Point Champion of the Decade.  Homer and Tina allowed us to take Treff Haven IbnNaheed, a four year old bright chestnut colt to be Jan's new show horse.  In mid October we brought Ibby home to Susar, and just a few days later, Jan took him to live with her.  We are very happy to have been able to put this together as we feel it will be a wonderful situation for everyone involved.  We look forward to following Jan and Ibby-Patton as they progress toward show champions.

Satron will be retired from showing with Jan riding at our November show.  He will continue to teach youngsters and we hope to see him at Susar carrying young charges for many years to come.

We are adding another trophy to our list of Susar Perpetual Trophies.  It is the Satron English Pleasure trophy to be awarded to the horse winning the most English Pleasure Points throughout the year.
