Oopsie is a small jenny who came to Susar Farm in a very unexpected manner. We have always had one donkey on the farm as a companion for foals (especially if we have one to wean), and as a companion to the horses as well. Horses and donkeys love each other, and we like the sound of "donkey song". Our old donkey Norman is at this point 37 years old. A few years ago we decided we had better find a young donkey so that when the inevitable happens, we will have a donkey that Norman has trained to be the Susar Donk!
Well, we bought an eight month old jenny and named her Millie. Millie came to live on the farm and everything was just fine. One day, over a year after the time we brought Millie home, I came from school to find that Millie had had a baby. We obviously had no idea and eight month old donkey could have been pregnant, nor did we have any idea that she had been "exposed", but Oopsie was nonetheless a fact.
Oopsie is now four years old and as bad as a donkey can be. Unlike her mother, who is sedate and dignified, Oopsie is a riotous little monster that delights in going wherever she wants to go. She will walk up to the biggest, meanest boss mare and simply start sharing a hay pile. The boss mares are so non-plussed when their ears go unheeded, that they simply ignor her and act as though she doesn't exist.
